Victory in the Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Competition (Term 1, Round 1, 2024-25)

Updated: Dec 2

In an exciting T1R1 debate competition between PLKWCC and LLCEWSS on the motion "THW ban the poor from gambling," PLKWCC won with a compelling argumentative strategy against the motion. Keira Liu from 4S skillfully argued that there is insufficient statistical evidence to justify the ban. On the other hand, Willard Charm from 3R argued against the motion by highlighting the harmful stigmatisation that such a ban could inflict on people with low incomes. However, Abby Wong's (4R) outstanding clash analysis truly sealed the victory for PLKWCC, effectively dismantling the opponent’s arguments and demonstrating superior logical reasoning.

This victory clearly showed our team's debating ability and highlighted what is possible when we work diligently as a team. It was a great start to the year, and we anticipate many more fine performances to come!
